The bill to license O&M Specialists and Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (S2907 & A3060) was reintroduced in the NYS Senate and Assembly in January, 2023 thanks to the extremely hard work of Senator Roxanne Persaud and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo.

Too many New York residents with visual impairments are going without cane travel instruction called orientation and mobility (O&M). Without a cane and instruction on street safety skills they are at risk, a risk IDEA and the Rehabilitation Act says they should not have to take.
