News From NYVRA

On June 18, 2015 the Licensing Bill for vision impairment specialists with a specialization in Orientation & Mobility and/or Vision Rehabilitation Therapy passed both houses of the New York State Legislature with unanimous consent and was subsequently vetoed by the governor.  In March 2019 the bill was revised and reintroduced in the legislature thanks to the extremely hard work of Senator Roxanne Persaud, Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and Steve Malito of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron, LLP.

On May 31, 2019 the bill to License Vision Impairment Specialists (S4695) passed the Senate 57-0 and is now in the hands of the assembly!
